This little postcard fell off our fridge today and reminded me that I wanted to update you all our fostering adventures. My whole goal through this thing, as well as through our life in general, is to be transparent. So that, maybeeee God can use our story to inspire others to do the same.
Oh and yep, in case you missed it, we put our yes on the table for Foster Care a couple months ago!!! We are officially signed up for the licensing class that will start in April and end in June. Sadly it’s a bit away, but it was the first class that worked with our schedule So, we are trusting God’s timing and are using this time to continue to grow in our marriage and our relationship with Him.
Some FAQ for ya:
-When will we get a child?
Good question! We have some trips planned and so we probably won’t get a placement until August. (I’ve been using the term “paper pregnant” to describe this season.)
-Are we going to adopt?
The plan right now is to just foster Adoption eventually, but this season of fostering isn’t expected to lead to adoption. God’s plans never seem to be the exact same as mine though
-What age will you foster?
Again with the plan thing ^, this could change, but I think we will request placements for babes/toddlers for now.
-Aren’t you afraid of getting too attached.
Oh, friend. I HOPE I get too attached. I would gladly go through the heartache that might come along with attachment, in order for those sweet children to experience a glimpse of the love that their Heavenly Father feels for them over and over again.
-What about biological children?
Well, we’ve actually never tried for biological children. I haven’t experienced any of the pain and heartache that so many dear friends have experienced that comes from infertility & loss.
As far as we know biological children should still be in the picture when the time comes. But for now, we are following a calling we believe God has placed in our lives; one that says to love on the sweet babes that will come into our lives through fostering.
-So what’s required to become a foster parent?
Here’s what is required in Iowa: http://
This varies from state to state though
