Good morning and happy WEDNESDAY! We are officially halfway through the first week of August! I really wish the time would slow down a little! My August weeks are quickly filling up, and I’m just wanting everything to slow down so I can enjoy this month! But that’s not really how life works, is it?! (ha!)
Since it’s Wednesday and I am finally back into the swing of blogging, I am sharing another Wedding Planning 101 post with you all! This week’s post is another about another Everlasting Love preferred vendor!! If you haven’t yet thought about calligraphy on your wedding day, today’s the day!
I met (via internet 😉 ) Hope of Scott Calligraphy Studio when I was searching for a calligraphist for a styled shoot we did in March. She is so sweet, and has a very similar story as I do about struggling with what she wanted to do with the rest of her life after school! Her work is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, and I would love to continue photographing it 😉
Wondering why you should hire a calligraphist for your wedding day and how you should incorporate calligraphy? Here are my top 5 ideas!
- Ideally, your wedding invitation envelopes should be addressed by hand. This is SO time consuming, and if you’re like me, you may not have the best handwriting ever. Hope offers outer envelope addressing, as well as outer + return envelope addressing. This simple touch adds an elegance and anticipation for your guests. And, not only will your envelopes look great, but this saves so much time and energy. Trust me, filling out envelopes is the last thing you’re going to want to be doing during busy planning times.
- Your invites in general! I love the phrase “Less is More”! There is something beautiful about a handwritten, simple, yet stunningly elegant invitation. Your invitations are the first things guests see. This sets the whole tone for your wedding, and is often over looked! There are so many great options for invitations out there, but I just love the look and feel of clean, simple, and sophisticated invitation, and Hope does this so well!
- The more I shoot weddings, the more I love the idea of planned seating arrangements. I have seen so many different ideas for table numbers and escort cards. If you’ve chosen calligraphy for your invitations and envelopes, why not bring this over to your reception. Hope also offers her services for escort cards and table numbers. As a guest, how cool would it be to have an escort card to keep with your name beautifully written on it?!
- Have you ever attended a wedding with a nice 3 course meal, but wondered exactly what you’re eating? Sure you may have chosen the main dish, and you may be able to come pretty close in guessing what everything else is. As a bride and groom you have the ability to eliminate this guess-work for your guests! A beautifully hand-written menu will not only tie in everything thus far, but it will also let your guests know exactly what to expect!
- Last but not least, any other wedding day signage you would like! “Mr. & Mrs.” chair signs, guestbook sign, reserved signs, you name it! Calligraphy allows even the little “reserved” signs for your family to look classy and elegant!
Hopefully I’ve convinced you by now 😉 Head on over to Scott Calligraphy Studio’s website and check out more of her work!
