Next we headed to Harajuku. We saw several “retro” American clothing stores. They were basically Goodwills that charged 60.00 for a pair of jeans, and 160.00 for old bowling shirts!
In Harajuku we also found a park. We both think it is so great that in the middle of huge cities there are such beautiful and peaceful parks!
On Saturday we went to the coast, as well as to Mt. Nokogiri.
Mt. Nokogiri is the home of the largest statue of the Buddha Daibutsu in Japan.
There are also 1,500 stone figures of Tokai Arhats.
People put their prayers on these figures.
Here’s a map of the mountain. I (Alex) really struggled getting to the top.
However, once we got up there, it was worth it!
That evening Tyler made Yakisoba which is fried noodles in sauce. We actually had this on the day of our scavenger hunt. It was delicious.
On Sunday we went to another bilingual service with the Stoddards. After, we ate at a food court with mostly American food. I (Alex) had McDonalds (again) and Tyler had KFC AND Mister Donuts. After lunch we got on a train and headed back in to Tokyo so I could take photos for the Nakazawas! Shige’s father turned 70 that day. What a great way to bless their family!
