I dressed the babe who made me a momma in his jammies as he kicked and rolled around, fed him his bottle in the old wooden rocking chair in his room, bounced him on the blue yoga ball that we use every night to get him to sleep, sang him “It Is Well”, listened to him sing back to me, watched his little eyes get heavier and heavier as he drifted off to sleep, listened to his shallow breaths deepen and become slower, watched his little lips part as his sweet snoring began, stroked his face, kissed his forehead, fixed his hair and placed him in his crib for the very last time tonight.
