Tyler and I got married 4 whole years ago. Throughout those 4 years, we have learned so much about each other. Going into our marriage we knew that it takes work. Hard work, sacrificial work. But we also knew that it’s romantic. It’s an adventure. That it’s incredibly glorifying to God.
What we didn’t expect (or at least what I didn’t expect) was to be healed, grown, shaped, molded and pursued by God through my marriage to Ty. But that is what has happened. And amongst all the big changes that have happened in our lives and hearts, are the day to day journeys that have joined to create a this wonderful life we have together. This life filled with love, adventure, romance, and with arguments, selfishness, and sorrow.
We have grown so much since that warm summer day in 2012. And I’m so glad that we decided to document that growth each year with sessions with our dear friend, Val. I remember how giddy, yet awkward I felt during our first ever portrait session in 2013. Val and I had just started our friendship, and the only other time we had had our portraits professionally taken was at our wedding.
But we knew we wanted to invest in a session in order to celebrate one another and our marriage; something that can be easy to forget in our busy lives. We both felt spoiled and blessed to be honored in such a personal way and so happy that we decided to take the time to have the session every year since then!
Getting these portraits taken has documented how our love has grown and changed into something even more beautiful in the past 4 years. Val, thank you for documenting us each year, these sessions are so near and dear to my heart.
